VfB Stuttgart have enough absences to lament – now Enzo Millot has also been hit.
Apart from the dominating topic around the five Corona cases Florian Müller, Fabian Bredlow, Waldemar Anton, Roberto Massimo and Erik Thommy, VfB Stuttgart had to report another piece of bad news on Wednesday.
Enzo Millot, who came from AS Monaco for 1.5 million euros in the summer, tore an inner ligament in his right knee during training on Tuesday. He is being treated conservatively, i.e. without an operation, and depending on how it progresses, it will cost him around six weeks of downtime. “This is bitter news,” says sporting director Sven Mislintat, who attests that the 19-year-old midfielder with the number 8 at the back has “worked through his training backlog from the summer”. “Physically, he has been on a good path lately. Now, unfortunately, he has to be patient for a while before he can get back into team training. “
Matarazzo on Millot: “Not so consistent yet “
Millot had already made brief Bundesliga appearances on Matchdays 2 and 3 in the 0:4 defeat in Leipzig and the 2:3 defeat against Freiburg, but had not been able to impose himself on further playing time and since then has only made two appearances for VfB II in the Regionalliga.
“Enzo still has ups and downs,” explained Pellegrino Matarazzo at the time. “If he can turn his potential into performance and thus influence the game, if he can do that consistently, his chances of being used will increase. At the moment, he is not yet that consistent.” However, that is “completely normal”, said the VfB head coach. “New team, new country, new situation. He needs some time.” Now Millot needs time to get fit and healthy again.
