Bear has the last word: 1860 München decides chance-filled basement duel for itself

In a respectable third division match, the TSV 1860 München reserved the better end for itself. Against Duisburg, the Löwen created numerous chances but also missed a penalty.

1860 coach Michael Köllner changed the starting eleven twice compared to the 1:3 in Osnabrück: Belkahia and Steinhart replace the injured Lang and Greilinger (bench).

Duisburg coach Hagen Schmidt also made two changes: After the 1:0 against Viktoria Berlin, Gembalies and Bakalorz replaced the yellow suspended Bretschneider and Pusch.

From the start, both teams made it clear that they had come here to score goals. While Mölders’ attempt (8th) hit the crossbar, Bouhaddouz did better two minutes later. With a beautiful header he put the visitors from Duisburg in the lead (10th).

However, it did not take the Munich team long to respond: After a foul by Gembalies on Lex in the penalty area, Steinhart scored from the penalty spot to make it 1-1 (16th).

No further goals were scored until the break, but both teams had chances. The best were missed by Bouhaddouz, who hit the post (37th), and Biankadi (40th).

Gembalies also causes the second penalty

After the change of ends, both teams looked for the direct way into the offensive. However, this plan initially bore fruit for 1860: Mölders outplayed two opponents in the penalty area and then overcame Weinkauf with a low shot (54th). Steinhart could have increased the lead after Gembalies had again brought down Lex in the penalty area. This time, however, Steinhart failed to hit Weinkauf (65).

The game was still open and Duisburg promptly took advantage of this, but was caught cold shortly afterwards: The intermediate equaliser through a remarkable goal by Ademi (69th) was followed by Munich’s lead again through Bär (73rd). In the final phase, the Duisburg team lacked energy and was unable to turn the tide in this curious match.
1860 travel to TSV Havelse on Saturday, Duisburg open the 17th round against Waldhof Mannheim on Friday.
