As in the previous season, the best offensive player in the BBL comes from Crailsheim.
By a narrow margin, TJ Shorts II was named the best offensive player in the BBL. The US-American, who is currently suffering from a shoulder injury, follows Trae Bell-Haynes, who also won this title in Crailsheim in the previous season.
29.27 percent of all votes went to the only 1.75 metre tall Shorts, who had switched from Hamburg to Hohenlohe in the summer of 2021 and immediately became the lynchpin of the Crailsheim offence. In 21 games, Shorts averaged 20.6 points and handed out 7.0 assists.
Kamar Baldwin (23.17 per cent, BG Göttingen) and Parker Jackson-Cartwright (15.85 per cent, Telekom Baskets Bonn) finished behind Shorts.
Defence: Simon ahead of Weiler-Babb
The award for the best defensive player went to Justin Simon of the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, after his team-mate Yorman Polas Bartolo had previously won three times in a row. US winger Simon received 34.57 per cent of all votes. He averaged 1.9 steals, 0.8 blocks and 5.8 rebounds to strengthen the Barockstädter’s defence.
With Nick Weiler-Babb (16.05 percent, Bayern Munich), a guard lands in second place. Third place goes to national player Max DiLeo (8.64 percent, Hamburg Towers).
