FC Bayern will have to do without their top joker in tonight’s second round match of the DFB Cup: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting injured himself in training.
His debut in the current DFB Cup season 2021/22 was a perfect one. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (32) scored four goals in the 12-0 win against Bremer SV. This Wednesday evening, however, FC Bayern will have to do without its top scorer in this competition: The striker with the number 13 is out for the game in Mönchengladbach and probably for the next two weeks due to a muscle injury he sustained in training on Tuesday.
The Cameroonian, whose contract was extended by two years before this season, has also scored three goals in seven appearances in the current Bundesliga season, lasting just over two hours in total, the most recent coming against Hoffenheim in a 3-0 win, while the Lewandowski back-up also scored in the Champions League (against Kiev).
Strong record of eight goals in ten competitive matches
Makes for a fine tally of eight goals in ten competitive appearances this season for the professional signed for free from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020, only ever coming on as a substitute after the break and four times for less than ten minutes. The FCB is therefore missing its top joker for the time being.
