Time is running out on the FC Bayern coaching issue. The problem: there are differences within the management circle
That Max Eberl sees the current national coach Julian Nagelsmann as a top candidate, FC Bayern’s sports director is said to have intensified his efforts to find Thomas Tuchel’s predecessor. Sports director Christoph Freund can also imagine bringing back the 36-year-old. Knowing full well that neither of them experienced Nagelsmann as Bayern coach and may not know the details of some of the reasons for his departure – there were numerous, regardless of the ten points lost to Dortmund in the meantime.
Eberl, however, seems convinced of his plan, especially as the sporting director and the sporting director can propose their candidates to the supervisory board, but certainly not decide on the new coach alone. Therefore, even if Nagelsmann is currently Eberl’s preferred solution, a turnaround in the search for a coach cannot be ruled out
De Zerbi is no longer an issue – one-year coach option?
Ralf Rangnick (65) is still one of the options, but he is unlikely to be pleased that the sporting authorities would prefer Nagelsmann to him. Roberto de Zerbi (44), meanwhile, is no longer an issue; otherwise the names Unai Emery (52) and Hansi Flick (59), who could well imagine a return, are still being bandied about.
An interim solution is also not completely ruled out, although it is not desired – with an option. In other words: a coach for one year, possibly to take over from Xabi Alonso, Sebastian Hoeneß or Jürgen Klopp in 2025. And if this one-year coach is successful, it would be no problem to continue with him
