Two sports greats among themselves: Alexander Zverev prevailed in Munich on Easter Sunday and won the tournament. Bayern star Thomas Müller was in the audience.
Alexander Zverev certainly couldn’t have imagined a better birthday. The German tennis star turned 28 on Easter Sunday and gave himself the gift of victory at the ATP tournament in Munich. He defeated American Ben Shelton 6-2, 6-4, ending a slump in form that had puzzled even him. Another sports star was also watching the victory in the Bavarian capital: Thomas Müller.
The Bayern veteran sat in the audience and witnessed live as Zverev regained second place in the world rankings. Müller also posted a photo of himself at the tournament on Instagram. The snapshot shows the footballer sitting in the stands in Munich, clearly enjoying the atmosphere on the well-filled court. In the background, you can see the award ceremony for Alexander Zverev, whose name is also emblazoned on a large banner.
Müller is wearing a white polo shirt and sunglasses – and seems to be enjoying the sunny Easter day in a relaxed atmosphere. The 2014 World Cup winner captioned the photo: “Congratulations to Alexander Zverev on his great performance today.” And what did Zverev do? The tennis ace responded to the link and commented with a link back: “Thomas Müller, best man.” The audience also sang “Happy Birthday.” Zverev himself wrote on an Instagram post: “Well, that was a happy birthday! Always special to win at home!”
