The FC Bayern had the tricky task against the top team Olympiakos Piraeus in the Euroleague on Friday – and just missed a surprise.
The Bavarians had to admit defeat to the Greek top club on Friday evening in their own hall with 88:98 (53:50). The Bavarians thus missed out on a place in the play-offs in the European premier league.
The team of coach Andrea Trinchieri was doomed by a weak third quarter. At the break, the hosts were still ahead by three points. But they lost the third period 16:23 and thus fell behind for the first time.
The Bavarians fought back against defeat in the final quarter. But the Greeks played their class to the full and did not let the Bavarians come close. Augustine Rubit was Bayern’s best scorer with 18 points. Tyler Dorsey excelled for Olympiakos with 25 points.
