Bayern-Juwel Vidovic’s run continues – but Aubstadt equalises late on

Third division relegation FC Bayern München II has suffered a setback in the fight for promotion: The team of coach Martin Demichelis could not go beyond a 3-3 draw at home against Aubstadt.

The hopes they associate with the name Gabriel Vidovic in Munich are high. And the current form of the 17-year-old is remarkable: The offensive player has already scored twelve goals in the Bavarian Regionalliga after 18 appearances. With his goal to make it 2-1 against Aubstadt, Vidovic scored his sixth goal in six consecutive games.

However, at 8.51 p.m., the Bayern star was not in the mood to celebrate, as his team had given away what they thought was a certain victory in injury time. But first things first: Aubstadt were brave and bold from the start and were rewarded in the twelfth minute with a header from captain Dellinger. Bayern had to collect themselves before the offensive turned the game around within five minutes.

First it was Motika, who pushed Scott’s shot over the line after it had been blocked by keeper Wenzel (29th). Then came the performance of Vidovic, who scurried past three opponents in the penalty area and scored with a bit of luck into the right corner (34.). After the second half, however, Aubstadt invested more in the game and were rewarded with the almost overdue equaliser: Dellinger was overlooked at the second post and the visitors’ captain slammed his direct shot into the short corner (72.).

Dramatic final chord at Grünwalder Stadion

A dramatic final chord followed as Bayern pressed for victory – and after a pass from Booth, Welzmüller actually made it 3:2 (86.). The vociferous fans had already started the party when Bayern defender Lawrence had to clear on the line, before seconds later Heinze blasted a concealed shot from the second row into the net for the 3:3 final score (90.+1).

The draw leaves Bayern just one point ahead of chasing Bayreuth, who have one game less on their account. The top of the league continues on Sunday (1 p.m.), when the away game in Heimstetten awaits them.
