Bayern and Alba have had mixed fortunes in the Euroleague recently – but it was back to league action on Sunday. FCB celebrated a home win against Crailsheim, while Berlin stumbled in Würzburg
FC Bayern Munich remain the team of the moment in the German Basketball League and have now gone nine games without defeat. The team of Head Coach Pablo Laso clearly won 98:81 (52:38) against relegation candidates Hakro Merlins Crailsheim on Sunday. Carsen Edwards (23 points) and Vladimir Lucic (13) were the best players in the win, which only came under threat briefly in the first quarter.
With 13 wins and three defeats, Munich has now also closed the gap on league leaders Niners Chemnitz, who have 15 wins and three defeats. Bayern had also won the top game at the Saxons the previous week
Würzburg wins thriller against Alba
Alba Berlin failed to capitalize on the slip-up by champions ratiopharm Ulm on Saturday and lost 75:76 (37:39) in a thriller at Würzburg Baskets. Darius Perry hit the decisive free throws for the home side with four seconds remaining.
Instead of taking third place from Ulm, the Albatrosses now had to surrender their fourth place in the table to Würzburg. Zachary Seljaas – who drained seven three-pointers – and Otis Livingston II led the Baskets to victory with 21 points. Sterling Brown (21) impressed for Alba, but missed the last shot.
