Breakthrough in the transfer poker for international Jonathan Tah. Bayern Munich and Bayer 04 have agreed in principle on the transfer terms for Leverkusen’s defensive boss. However, the deal is not yet perfect
For a long time, it was not clear how Bayern Munich and the German double winners from Leverkusen would come together on the transfer deal for Leverkusen’s defensive boss Jonathan Tah. The first two offers from Munich, which amounted to €18 million plus two million in bonuses and €20 million plus five million in bonuses respectively, did not represent a real basis for negotiation for those responsible at Bayer 04.
But now the decisive step has been taken in the talks between the two clubs: According to information, they have reached a clear agreement regarding the transfer fee and the additional bonuses. These are in the region of around 25 million euros in fixed transfer compensation and around five million in performance-related additional payments.
Everything depends on de Ligt and Manchester United
But the deal is not yet perfect. Munich are only prepared to buy Tah, who does not want to extend his contract at Leverkusen, out of his contract, which runs until 2025, for this sum once Bayern central defender Matthijs de Ligt has been sold.
In negotiations with the Red Devils, Bayern are still demanding a package of 50 million euros for the Dutch international. Manchester United, whose team manager Erik ten Hag coached defender de Ligt when they were both at Ajax Amsterdam, and Munich are said to be some way apart when it comes to the transfer fee
If FC Bayern and Man United reach an agreement, nothing stands in the way of Tah moving to Munich. Bayern have already had clarity on a contract with the record champions for weeks with the 28-year-old. Now it’s all down to de Ligt. Bayer 04 are now likely to step up their efforts to find a new central defender, which would be absolutely essential following Tah’s departure
