Aymen Barkok will stay with Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season, after which they will part ways. The 23-year-old will then move on a free transfer to 1. FSV Mainz 05.
The question was whether Barkok would leave Eintracht in the winter transfer window. From the player’s point of view, a transfer would have been an immediate possibility, but the midfielder must now wait until the summer before he can play for Mainz 05. An immediate transfer could not be implemented.
“Aymen Barkok has already gained a lot of experience in the Bundesliga despite his young age,” 05 sporting director Martin Schmidt is quoted as saying. After all, Baykok has already made 72 appearances in Germany’s top flight, 57 for the Eagles and 15 for Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Schmidt describes the attacking midfielder as “technically highly gifted”, and he would also “fit in perfectly with Mainz 05 in terms of his style and mentality. With his physicality and robustness, Aymen will also complement our team profile well. “
Contract until 2025 in Mainz
Barkok was trained at Eintracht in their own youth and was considered a diamond in the rough when he made his Bundesliga debut in 2016. However, the quick and tricky 23-year-old has still not made his breakthrough. He can work on that in Mainz from the summer onwards. The Rheinhessen club have signed Barkok to a contract until 30 June 2025.
