Barcelona appears to have secured its first winter signing. Several Spanish media report that the Catalan club has reached an agreement with Manchester City about the transfer of Ferran Torres.
Torres, 21, has been in the spotlight for some time from Barcelona, which urgently needs new attackers. After all, Sergio Aguero has ended his playing career, while many other players at the forefront are struggling with injuries. Xavi Hernández saw Torres as the ideal candidate to solve those problems.
The Spaniard can be used in all positions at the forefront and knows the Spanish league well, he was trained by Valencia and has more than 70 La Liga matches to his name. Barca would pay 55 million euros for Torres. The amount can increase considerably via bonuses, but is well below the asking price of 75 million that City initially used. It is unclear where the club gets the money from.
