Zach Copeland was the Bamberg Baskets’ best scorer in the past season. He will join the Italian first division team Naples for the coming season
The Bamberg Baskets will have to make do without their top scorer Zach Copeland in the future. The Baskets’ shooting guard will not return to Franconia after spending the summer in Canada with the Vancouver Bandits, for whom he will play in the national professional league CEBL. The German Basketball League club made the announcement on Wednesday. The US-American will move to the Italian first-division club from Naples.
Top scorer for the Baskets
Copeland was Bamberg’s top scorer last season with an average of 17.7 points, making him the seventh-best scorer in the entire league. The man with the number 2 back recorded his season’s best against Vechta at the end of last year, when he scored 33 points. He will also be remembered for his successful shot from the halfway line at MLP Academics Heidelberg. In an average season in which Arne Woltmann’s team finished eleventh in the table, the 1.93-meter tall Copeland also added 2.7 rebounds and 4.2 steals to his overall stats.
Copeland in Italy for the second time
After a year in Germany, the wandering bird is moving back to Italy. Copeland signs a two-year contract with the Napoli Baskets. The Italians narrowly missed out on the play-offs this season, finishing ninth in the table. After winning the championship with Pistoia Baskets in the second division in the 2022/2023 season, Naples is now Copeland’s second stop in Italy. The 26-year-old has previously played in Ukraine, Finland and the UK.
