The BMW works driver, who accepted Felipe Massa’s emotional invitation 14 years after the dramatic Formula 1 title showdown in Interlagos and supported him as a team partner, did not even get to race.
The reason: in the first race Massa contested, the 19 Chevrolet Cruze broke down at the Autodromo Carlos Pace due to a technical defect. “The drive shaft broke and I could not continue,” Massa said. “I still tried to pit the car to give Timo the chance to drive, but I didn’t make it. “
So the bolide could not be repaired in time, which is why Glock did not even get to race. Particularly bitter: “In my races, we could have started from the front row because of the inverted grid,” Glock points out on ‘Instagram’ that the top 10 are inverted for the second start.
The winner of the weekend, in which the stock car regulars were each allowed to invite a guest driver to contest the second race, was defending champion Gabriel Casagrande, who won the first race. His team partner Gabriel Robe finished fourth in the second race.
Ex-Formula 1 driver Ricardo Zonta finished fifth in the first race, BMW works driver and ex-DTM driver Augusto Farfus even managed a podium finish in the second race with third place. Things did not go according to plan for ex-Formula 1 driver Rubens Barrichello, however, who retired in the first race due to a defect. The car was fit to drive again in the second race, but his son Edoardo also retired after some contact.
