Würzburg’s Bundesliga basketball team renames itself: s.Oliver Würzburg becomes Würzburg Baskets
The last time the team from Lower Franconia competed under the name Würzburg Baskets was twelve years ago. The renaming is necessary because the main sponsor, s.Oliver, withdrew at the end of last season. “For the time being, we are going back to our roots and will compete under the neutral name Würzburg Baskets,” explains managing director Steffen Liebler, “especially the addition ‘Baskets’ is still on everyone’s lips despite the twelve years with s.Oliver as the name giver and has also continued to be used in the media. “
The logo will also be slightly adapted for the start of summer preparation this Monday. Lieber says: “Our logo will only change slightly in the lettering. We want to continue to identify strongly with Würzburg through the design with the city silhouette and of course also stick to our corporate identity with the traditional colours red and white.”
In parallel, the Lower Franconians are looking for a new partner. “The search for a suitable main and name sponsor is of course still in full swing,” says Lieber.
