Sydney – Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has personally thanked the world number one for her achievements following the announcement of tennis star Ashleigh Barty’s career end.
“It was great to speak to you today Ash Barty and just say thank you Ash,” Morrison wrote in a tweet on Wednesday. The 25-year-old had shortly before shared an emotional video saying goodbye to tennis.
“Thank you for inspiring the nation. You are simply classy,” the head of government paid tribute. The athlete’s achievements would be celebrated for all time. “On behalf of all Australians, I wish you and your fiancé Garry nothing but the best for your marriage and your new life together. “
