Aus(t) the mouse: Withdrawal from the ADAC GT Masters – The Audi team, however, remains part of the ADAC platform and moves to the GTC Race
The ADAC GT Masters loses an Audi R8 LMS GT3: Aust Motorsport withdraws from the German GT Championship. Frank Aust’s team will instead move into the GTC Race with two cars (in different classes, according to our information), which will race as part of the ADAC Racing Weekend.
“We simply noticed that [in the ADAC GT Masters] it is going more and more in the direction of factory racing,” team boss Frank Aust explained the reason for the withdrawal. “The costs in the ADAC GT Masters are spiralling. Motorsport with gentleman drivers or hobby drivers is no longer a given there. “
He therefore wants to concentrate on GT3 racing with amateurs again: “We concentrate on customer racing, where we give gentlemen a platform. There they can have fun and experience professional motorsport with a team.” At the same time, he said, it should also pay off for his company without being in the spotlight or under pressure.
Aust Motorsport competed in the ADAC GT Masters from 2016 to 2021 – initially with two cars, in 2021 with one. In 2017, Kelvin van der Linde and Markus Pommer managed a victory at the Nürburgring.
During this time, a number of drivers competed for Aust. Alongside Pommer and van der Linde were Mikaela Aahlin-Kottulinsky, Marco Bonanomi, Pierre Kaffer, Xavier Maassen, Lukas Schreier, Steve Feige, Bas Schothorst, Sheldon van der Linde, Dennis Marschall, Patric Niederhauser, Nikolaj Rogivue, Frederic Vervisch, Christer Jöns, Maximilian Hackländer, Remo Lips, Christopher Dreyspring, Arlind Hoti, Wolfgang Triller, Stephane Tribaudini, Gosia Rdest, Hendrik von Danwitz, Rahel Frey, Markus Winkelhock and last but not least Daniel Keilwitz and Sebastian Asch at the wheel.
