Guido Burgstaller was the victim of a physical attack in Vienna city center over the weekend. The Rapid striker suffered significant head injuries.
Ahead of the last game in 2024, SK Rapid has reported bad news. Guido Burgstaller was attacked by an unknown man in downtown Vienna on Friday night and suffered significant head injuries as a result of the physical assault. The 35-year-old sustained a fractured skull base, among other injuries, after being knocked over by the attacker’s blow.
Burgstaller was immediately taken to hospital, where he will continue to receive treatment in the coming days. As Rapid announced, the green-and-white attacker will be out for several months.
In their statement, the Hütteldorfer asked to respect Burgstaller’s privacy and that of his family. In consultation with the medical department and the striker, who has played for Nuremberg, Schalke and St. Pauli, among others, during his career, Rapid will report news in the next few days.
