Is FC Bayern’s injury misfortune continuing? Following Dayot Upamecano (24), Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (34) has now also cancelled his international trip
FC Bayern München are threatened with the absence of attacker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The 34-year-old will not be able to take part in Cameroon’s international matches against Russia (Thursday, 6 p.m.) and Senegal (Monday, 8.30 p.m.), the Cameroonian football association led by national coach Rigobert Song announced on Wednesday.
The federation did not initially disclose what exactly Choupo-Moting has and whether it is an injury. It only said that he had “dropped out at the last minute”. The striker was still in action in the Bundesliga at the weekend; in the 3-0 win over Freiburg, Choupo-Moting was substituted in the 88th minute for double player Kingsley Coman.
In the current season, Choupo-Moting has played nine games so far, only two of them from the start. In the 7:0 win against Bochum and the 4:0 win over Münster in the cup, the attacker was on the scoresheet.
On Wednesday morning, the record champions announced the temporary absence of defender Upamecano due to a thigh injury. The Frenchman suffered the injury against Freiburg and will miss approximately three weeks.
