World champion Dennis Schröder has been given a new coach by the Brooklyn Nets. The NBA team named Kevin Ollie as interim coach on Tuesday after head coach Jacque Vaughn was relieved of his duties on Monday
Former NBA player Ollie has been an assistant coach with the Nets since this season. He started his coaching career in 2010 at the University of Connecticut, where he had already played as a student. In 2018, he was relieved of his duties by the university management after being accused of rule violations. Ollie was suspended for three years at college level. He returned in 2021 to coach a newly formed talent development league before making the move to the Nets last summer.
It was only announced on Monday afternoon (CET) that the Nets were parting ways with Head Coach Jacque Vaughn. Brooklyn is currently in eleventh place in the Western Conference after 45 games with a record of 21 wins and 33 defeats and is in danger of missing out on the play-offs.
Schröder only moved from the Toronto Raptors to the Brooklyn Nets, who have lost five of their last six games, shortly before the NBA trade deadline. The club’s bosses were particularly prompted to take action by the heavy 86:136 loss to the Boston Celtics before the All-Star weekend
