Arsenal’s run continues – Aubameyang causes head-scratching

And suddenly Arsenal are part of the Premier League top flight. The Gunners also defied setbacks in a 1-0 win over Watford

The FC Arsenalhas claimed another victory – this time not because of, but in spite of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The ex-Dortmundian had a very bad day against Watford on Sunday, but in the end it did not have any consequences.

Former Leipzig man Smith Rowe, scoring in his third consecutive outing, made it 1-0 with his successful 18-yard low shot (56th) for clearly superior Gunners, who were otherwise unlucky in front of goal.

First and foremost not Aubameyang. In the 36th minuteHe failed with a foul penalty (Rose to Lacazette) on the 38-year-old Foster, missing his fourth Premier League penalty in 13 attempts.

Aubameyang prevents Ödegaard goal

And in the 72nd minute, the attacker also stole the 2:0 from a teammate: Ödegaard had successfully dribbled through on the right in the penalty area and shot flat towards the far corner. However, because Aubameyang touched the ball slightly and was offside, the goal did not count. The ball would have landed in the net even without Aubameyang.

Nevertheless, it was enough to win, because Ramsdale, White & Co. played to nil for the third time in a row, while Watford still lost Kucka with a yellow card (89.). In the table, Arsenal, now without defeat for ten games, climbed past Manchester United to fifth place. After three matchdays, Arteta’s team had been bottom of the table, without points or goals.
