Since Unai Emery took Wenger’s place as Arsenal manager, there have been more comings and goings than we can keep up with. Wilshire, Cazorla and Mertesacker (retired) have all departed and Torreira, Leno, Sokratis, Guendouzi and Lichsteiner have all come into the team, giving them a new look before the transfer window is even near to closing.
Welbeck and Ospina next out of the door?
Rumours coming out of the Arsenal camp suggest that Danny Welbeck and David Ospina will also be on the move before the start of the season, as Emery looks to wield the axe on some of the squad players he deems surplus to requirements. Welbeck has been plagued with injuries since his move from Manchester United and has not reached the form that he showed glimpses of at the beginning of his Arsenal career.
With Emery seemingly bringing in his first choice goalkeeper in Leno, Ospina will be even further down the list of goalkeepers in the squad. His playing time will certainly be limited if he does stay at the Gunners, so it will be in both side’s best interests for him to find a new club.
Ramsey has still not signed a contract extension
There is still uncertainty over Aaron Ramsey’s future, with the Wales international having just one year left on his current contract. Unai Emery is said to be keen to get Ramsey to commit his long-term future to the club and rates him highly.
Steven NZonzi on his way to Arsenal?
Steven N’Zonzi could be another player that will be lining up in an Arsenal shirt next season, with Emery expected to bid for the French World Cup winner. Now that the World Cup has finished, the Sevilla player will be in a position to have talks with the London team.
When the Premier League season kicks off in less than a month’s time, Arsenal’s squad will look very different to the one that started the 2017/2018 season and finished sixth. Getting Arsenal back into the top four will Emery’s first objective and his transfer business shows some major intent on both his and the club’s behalf.
