Arsenal has not made a good turn in the Europa League. The Arsène Wenger team managed to get rid of the Swedish Östersunds in the sixteenth finals, but on Thursday evening they suffered a shameful defeat on their own pitch: 1-2.
After the 0-3 last week’s victory in Sweden, Wenger decided to send a upgraded B team to the field and that was expensive for the French manager. Arsenal finished a sad first half in a moderately filled Emirates Stadium and left the field with shame on the jaws and Östersunds hunted for David Ospina’s goal from the first whistle and finally earned a salary for working after 22 minutes of football.
Hosam Aiesh was thrown away on the right side of the field by Saman Ghoddos, after which he shot the ball through the leg of defender Calum Chambers past Ospina. Hardly obtaining the shock, Arsenal had to surrender for a second time just sixty seconds later. Ken Sema put Chambers in the gauntlet with a beautiful foot movement, after which he found the far corner with a hard shot: 0-2.
Östersunds was hoping for a stunt, but a goal of Sead Kolasinac just after a while made sure that Arsenal soon got a little more air. The defender shot in after a cross from the right flank of Héctor Bellerín. Arsenal, via Kolasinac among others, was given some chances on the equalizer, but he never played big and was eventually accompanied off the pitch with a startling flute concert.
