Ansu Fati will once again have to take a longer break. The Brighton attacker will be out for months due to an Achilles tendon injury
The injury was sustained by Ansu Fati in the Premier League match at Nottingham Forest (3:2); the 21-year-old had to be substituted in the 21st minute. On Thursday, the attacker was in Barcelona for further treatment, Fati is on loan from Barça to Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of the season.
After three appearances for the Catalans, Ansu Fati appeared in new league games in England (2 goals). He came on as a substitute on the first seven occasions and was in the starting eleven on each of the last two matchdays. He also made four appearances in the Europa League and impressed with a goal and an assist in the 2-0 win in Amsterdam at the beginning of November
Repeated setbacks
Fati is repeatedly set back by serious injuries. He suffered his first on matchday nine in the 2020/21 season, requiring several operations due to a meniscus injury and missing the entire season. The next injury followed in November 2021, another setback after a brief comeback
Fati was spared further serious injuries from 2022/23 onwards, but Barcelona coach Xavi no longer regularly relied on the now youngest Barcelona goalscorer in league history (he has since been replaced by Lamine Yamal), partly as a precautionary measure. Ansu Fati missed a total of 106 Barça games due to injury
