The Street Profits win the tag team titles at SmackDown in Barcelona – for the third time in two weeks, a big TV show ends with a belt change.
The Street Profits are back at the top of the tag team division in WWE SmackDown.
On the latest episode of the TV show – held in Barcelona, Spain, with guest of honor Lamine Yamal in the audience – Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford won the WWE Tag Team Titles from DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa). It was the third time in two weeks that a WWE main event ended with a belt change, following the title wins of Iyo Sky (Women’s World Title) and LA Knight (US Title).
WWE SmackDown: Street Profits are champions again
The match ended when Gargano hit his own partner Ciampa with a superkick while Dawkins dodged the Meet In The Middle. Dawkins countered with a spinebuster on Gargano, whereupon Ford secured the win for the Street Profits with a frog splash.
Dawkins and Ford are WWE Tag Team Champions for the second time, their re-capture of the title marks the end of a prolonged identity crisis – during which the two also publicly complained about their faltering development at WWE. The two also suffered from the switch of Bobby Lashley to competitor AEW shortly after he formed a group with them.
The European tour of WWE shows before the WrestleMania mega-event in mid-April continues in Brussels next Monday: WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Mania challenger John Cena’s first encounter since the latter’s “heel turn” at No Escape (Elimination Chamber) two weeks ago has been announced for the RAW edition in the Belgian capital.
