Mateu Morey will miss Borussia Dortmund for a long time. The Spaniard’s tale of woe thus continues almost seamlessly.
Mateu Morey suffered a knee injury in training during the international break, according to BVB. The 23-year-old will “not be available for a few weeks”.
This is the continuation of the right-back’s tale of woe. After two years riddled with injuries, he was finally back in the Borussia squad for the 1-1 draw in Bochum, and his comeback no longer seemed far away. Now it has to be postponed again.
Morey has problems in both knees
Morey had already torn ligaments and meniscus before his move to BVB in the summer of 2019. Shortly after the transfer he suffered a shoulder injury, followed by a torn muscle fibre in August 2020 and finally a serious knee injury in April 2021 in the cup semi-final against Kiel (5:0). At the end of August 2022, he underwent surgery on the outer meniscus, but this time on the other knee.
In total, Morey made 18 Bundesliga and four DFB Cup appearances in his four-plus years at BVB.
