Another Brazilian: Champion Ulm signs Georginho

The German basketball champion ratiopharm Ulm has signed George Lucas Alves de Paula from Brazil. The point guard comes to Germany with several titles in his luggage.

After the departures of Finals MVP Yago Mateus dos Santos and Bruno Cabocclo, ratiopharm Ulm once again relies on a Brazilian. George Lucas Alves de Paula, called Georginho, comes from his homeland from the club Sesi Franca. Like dos Santos, the 27-year-old plays at the point guard position.

“After all the Brazilians have hit the ground running for us so far, it naturally makes sense to continue to keep an eye on this market. His physical abilities are impressive and his options are very variable,” said sporting director Thorsten Leibenath about the newcomer.

Georginho won the triple with Franca this year. The club became Brazilian champions and cup winners, and also won the South American Champions League. In 2021, Cristiano Felicio, a Brazilian from the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, had moved to Ulm for one season.
