It’s still not going well for Carlos Alcaraz this year. Now the Spaniard has also injured himself. But he won’t be out for long
Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz had to retire after just a few minutes in his first round match at the tennis tournament in Rio de Janeiro.
The Spanish world number two folded at 15:15 in the first game of the match. Alcaraz (20) then tried to play on, but had to retire shortly afterwards.
However, the Spaniard said he was not seriously injured and will only have to take a few days off. Following a medical examination, Alcaraz announced that he would be competing in the Masters 1000 tournament from March 6 to 17 in Indian Wells, California, where he is the defending champion.
