Lyon – Daniel Altmaier has already been eliminated in the first round at the tennis tournament in Lyon. The new German number two was beaten 3:6, 6:3, 3:6 by Federico Coria from Argentina.
Altmaier (23) had won the Challenger tournament in Heilbronn last week and thus improved to 54th place in the world rankings.
The clay court event, which is endowed with 597,900 US dollars, is also over for Oscar Otte. The 28-year-old from Cologne, who had won against Lucas Pouille from France in the opening match, lost to Sebastian Baez from Argentina 7:5, 4:6, 2:6 in the last 16 on Tuesday.
The elimination in Lyon meant a small setback for the two Germans a few days before the start of the French Open in Paris. The second Grand Slam tournament of the season starts on Sunday.
