Same club, different shirt, same shirt number: Erling Haaland will also wear the number 9 at Manchester City.
The transfer of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund to ManCity has been in the bag since mid-June, and now it is also clear which shirt number he will wear: It is 9, the Premier League club announced on Saturday – as in Dortmund, also as in the Norwegian national team.
This was the number most recently worn by Brazilian international Gabriel Jesus on his jersey with the Citizens. Haaland could have switched to 15, which his father once wore in Manchester, but that is no longer necessary following Gabriel Jesus’ move to Arsenal FC.
“Excited to get this going,” the 21-year-old Norwegian, who signed for ManCity until 2027, let it be known via Twitter.
