Ant Werder Bremen’s coach Markus Anfang has, according to club information, been the subject of an investigation into the alleged use of a fake vaccination certificate. The 47-year-old firmly denies the allegations.
On Thursday evening, the management of SV Werder Bremenhad been informed about the investigation, a statement released by the second-division club late in the day said.
“In a personal conversation with the management, Markus Anfang firmly denied the allegations and emphatically assured that he had been fully vaccinated and had not used a forged vaccination certificate,” the Werder statement continued.
“I received my two vaccinations at an official vaccination centre just like any other double-vaccinated citizen and received the corresponding stickers in my yellow vaccination certificate. I then had it digitised at the pharmacy and naturally assumed that everything was in order. I very much hope that the matter will be cleared up quickly,” Markus Anfang himself was quoted as saying.
The second-division club did not initially provide any information on the origin and background of the accusations.
