BBL finalist Alba Berlin (1:3 in the series against champions Munich at the end) is lining up with a new center for the coming season. Trevion Williams arrives from league rival Ulm and is showered with praise
Himar Ojeda makes no secret of his excitement about Trevion Williams. Alba Berlin’s sporting director describes the center, who was officially signed by BBL opponents ratiopharm Ulm this Thursday, as follows in the club’s press release: “Trevion has many qualities as a player that fit us perfectly. He is an excellent passer and, as a center, very versatile in his style of play.”
There is also a lot more to be gained from the new signing: “We want to help him take the next step and develop further at EuroLeague level. With his talent, he has great potential as a top player, which is why we are delighted to have signed him.”
Williams, who is just 23, comes from Chicago and came to Germany in 2023 via Purdue University from Indiana, the Santa Cruz Warriors (the G-League team of the Golden State Warriors from the NBA) and Capital City Go-Go (G-League team of the Washington Wizards). More precisely: after spending last summer in the NBA Summer League with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the center decided to come to Europe and Ulm
“Berlin is a great city “
The athlete, who is valued for his passing qualities as a “big man”, averaged 13.9 points in 42 games in Ulm in the past BBL season and even scored 14.8 points in 18 appearances in the EuroCup.
Now the 2.06-meter center is looking forward to the German capital and his tasks there: “Berlin is a great city and I’ve only heard good things about the club so far. I particularly like the way Alba plays as a team. Even as an opponent, it wasn’t difficult for me to see that the guys play for each other and want to win. “
