Alba Berlin won their fifth game in a row in Göttingen. Bamberg has Ulm at home and urgently needs a win to stay in the play-off places. In the evening, the MBC hosts the 99ers from Chemnitz.
The champions defeated BG Göttingen 92-86 (44-53) away from home on Sunday to record their 21st win of the season and remain mathematically unchallenged in the top eight. After their fifth success in a row, the Berliners remain third in the table, but with six defeats they have the fewest in the league.
But it was a Göttingen player who dominated the match at the start: former NBA player Jeremiah Martin led the home side to a 14:13 start with ten points in six minutes. Stephen Brown came up trumps in the second half, with 20 points in the first half the guard was mainly responsible for the 53:44 lead of the hosts at the break.
The Berliners equalised after an 11:2 start into the second half and now lost the ball less often. In a varied fourth quarter, Göttingen lost the rhythm in the final phase: They did not score in the last four and a half minutes, the Berliners ended the game with a decisive 8:0 run. National player Maodo Lo was Berlin’s top scorer, scoring seven of his 20 points in the final period.
