EA SPORTS has responded to the death of Greek international George Baldock by removing him from FC 25. In FIFA, the developer has once again had to take action against shameless gamblers.
Greek football is in a state of shock: last Thursday, George Baldock’s family confirmed that the twelve-time international had passed away. According to media reports, the Englishman was found lifeless in his swimming pool. The Greeks therefore wanted to postpone their Nations League game against England (2-1) – but UEFA saw no possibility of doing so.
EA SPORTS reacted to the death of the defender, who last played for Panathinaikos Athens: the developer removed Baldock from the squad of the Greek club in FUT 25. But that’s not all: because some tasteless FUT players once again wanted to make money out of a bereavement, EA SPORTS also intervened in Ultimate Team.
Shameless attempts to make a profit over and over again
Baldock’s FUT card is no longer in the packs. Its price range for the transfer market has also been fixed after the card rose by several thousand coins in a short period of time. Similar cases of shameless attempts at profiteering have occurred in previous titles in the series – whether it be Juan Manuel Izquierdo and Agyemang Diawusie in FC 24 or Jordi Bongard in FIFA 22.
EA SPORTS expressed “sincere condolences” to the family of the deceased, his club Panathinaikos and his fans around the world in an in-game message. Baldock was only 31 years old.
