After the coup against Bayern: Ulm makes a mistake in Würzburg

A game was scheduled in the BBL on Monday evening – and that resulted in a somewhat surprising defeat for Ulm in Würzburg.

After the exclamation mark in their own hall against Bayern Munich, the ratiopharm Ulm basketball team has suffered another setback away from home. On Monday evening, the team of Head Coach Ty Harrelson lost to the Würzburg Baskets with 72:89 (31:44) and thus made an unexpected mistake in the fight for the top of the Bundesliga, just one week after beating the league leaders Munich (109:94).

Whereas Ulm had recently impressed with over 100 points in each of its home games against Munich, Chemnitz and Frankfurt, the 2023 champions suffered their third consecutive away defeat in Würzburg. Jhivvan Jackson scored 17 points for the home side, while Karim Jallow finished as top scorer for Ulm with 12 points.

Nevertheless, Ulm remains Bayern’s closest challenger. Würzburg, on the other hand, celebrated an important victory in the battle for a direct play-off spot.
