After silver at the Olympics: Collet resigns in France

The French Basketball Federation FFBB has to look for a new national coach. Vincent Collet took over 15 years ago and ended the chapter at the Olympics with a great success

Just over a month after winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games in his own country, French national basketball coach Vincent Collet has resigned. This was announced by the national association FFBB on Monday. The 61-year-old had taken over the post 15 years ago.

“We have decided by mutual agreement with Vincent that he will no longer be the coach of the French national team,” said association president Jean-Pierre Siutat.

Succession not yet decided

Under Collet, the national team won a total of eight medals and its only title to date. France became European champions in Slovenia in 2013. There were two Olympic silver medals and two World Championship bronze medals.

At the Summer Games in Paris, the French team defeated world champions Germany in the semi-finals. In the final, the hosts were defeated by the USA. It is not yet known who will succeed Collet.
