New York, Leipzig, Salzburg – Red Bull has a long list of soccer locations. It could get bigger in the future. According to media reports, the trail leads to France.
It has not been 24 hours since the spectacular signing of Jürgen Klopp as Head of Global Soccer was made public, and Red Bull already seems to be working on the next big deal. The news agency AFP, citing a source familiar with the matter, reports that the company is interested in the French second division club Paris FC.
LVMH owners are also negotiating
According to the report, talks are currently underway between the Ligue 2 top team and Red Bull. The Arnault family, who own the luxury brand company LVMH, are also said to be at the negotiating table. The group’s portfolio includes, for example, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Hennessy – and in the future, will it also include the club from the French capital?
Neither Paris FC nor the Arnault family were willing to comment when asked by AFP. However, it is a matter of record that businessman and majority shareholder Pierre Ferracci, who has also been president of the club since 2012, wants to relinquish control of the club.
For Red Bull, Paris FC would be the third major figurehead in European football, after Salzburg and Leipzig. In addition, the beverage company invested in English second division club Leeds United after missing out on promotion, but in the form of a minority stake. In other parts of the world, Red Bull operates teams in New York, Brazil and Japan, among other places.
