After injury in Copa final: Messi misses two games for Miami

Luck in misfortune for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami. After suffering an injury in the Copa final, the world footballer will probably only have to sit out two games

World footballer Lionel Messi will miss at least two games for his Major League Soccer club Inter Miami after injuring his ankle in the Copa America final. This was confirmed by Miami coach Gerardo Martino. “But further tests will be carried out,” said Martino, adding that he would wait for the results.

Messi (37) was substituted in the second half of the 1-0 extra-time win over Colombia in the final in Miami and watched on in tears as the game progressed. The world champion had injured his right ankle through no fault of his opponent.

In an Instagram post afterwards, Messi thanked everyone for their messages and well wishes after the title win. “I’m fine, thank God, and I hope I can get back on the pitch soon and do what I love to do,” he wrote.

Miami are second in the MLS Eastern Conference after 23 games with 14 wins and five draws. Messi moved from Paris to Florida last summer. He won the Copa America title with Argentina for the second time
