After defeat in court: This is what Djokovic

says

The world number one has to leave Australia and is not allowed to take part in the Australian Open. In a first statement, Djokovic now comments on the decision of the Federal Court – with clear words.

The decision has been made: Australia expels Novak Djokovic, the currently best tennis player in the world is not allowed to participate in the Australian Open, which starts on Monday.

The Australian Federal Court rejected the Serb’s appeal against the denial of entry on Sunday. The dramatic dispute over the entry of the unvaccinated superstar has thus come to an end – the conflict had previously kept the sports world on tenterhooks for days.

Now the 34-year-old has already commented on the verdict and his elimination from the first Grand Slam tournament of the year: “I’m going to take some time off to recover before I go into more detail about all this,” Djokovic announced. He added: “I am extremely disappointed with this verdict. “

Djokovic was considered the top favourite for the tournament in Melbourne, which starts this Monday and ends on 30 January, and is the record champion with nine Australian Open wins. Now he will not have the opportunity to win his fourth consecutive title in Australia, at least this year. Read more about the verdict here.
