After Bayern’s European exit: BBL play-off dates set

With FC Bayern München’s Euroleague exit, the Basketball Bundesliga gains additional planning security for the upcoming play-offs.

If Munich had taken part in the Final Four in Belgrade (19 to 21 May), the German elite league would have interrupted its play for a few more days in the knockout phase. This is now not necessary because FC Bayern was eliminated in the fifth quarter-final against FC Barcelona on Tuesday evening.

The BBL has now scheduled the following date windows for the play-offs: The quarter-finals are to be played from 13 to 25 May, the semi-finals between 28 May and 9 June. The finals are scheduled to start on 12 June and end on 23 June at the latest. All series will be played in best-of-five mode.

It has been newly established that the team with home rights will play games one and two in their own hall and only then will they be switched. Previously, home advantage was swapped after each game. The detailed dates are to follow when the pairings of the quarter-finals are fixed.
