60 drivers, 30 cars from six brands ensure plenty of variety – Four racing teams make series debut in ADAC GT4 Germany in 2022
The ADAC GT4 Germany will kick off the 2022 season with a high-calibre field of 30 sportscars, featuring sportscars from Aston Martin, BMW, KTM, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche and Toyota in the largest-ever field of 60 drivers in the series’ history
This year, the ADAC GT4 Germany will be using the environmentally friendly fuel “Blue Gasoline 98 GT Masters”, which was developed exclusively by Shell for the ADAC GT Masters and its framework race series and consists of around 50 per cent regeneratively produced components.
The ADAC GT4 Germany will present itself on Tuesday and Wednesday during the official pre-season test at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The 2022 season opener will also take place at the same venue from 22 to 24 April.
The media coverage of the ADAC GT4 Germany will be expanded for the 2022 season: Livestreams of the races will be available free of charge on the sport.de sports platform for the first time, and they will also continue to be viewable on adac.de/motorsport. At sport.de, all races are also available on demand.
“The appeal of the ADAC GT4 Germany continues to grow and, with its largest field to date, underpins its reputation as a top training platform in motor racing and a springboard into the ADAC GT Masters,” says ADAC Sport President Dr Gerd Ennser.
“We will once again increase the media presence of the series this year with free live streams at sport.de. We are also extending our commitment to more sustainability in motorsport to the ADAC GT4 Germany this year and, as in the ADAC GT Masters, we are relying on a new environmentally friendly fuel from Shell. “
Porsche with the most cars
Michael Schrey and Gabriele Piana want to defend their championship title. The reigning champions are entering their third season together and will be driving one of two BMW M4 GT4s from Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport. Schubert Motorsport also relies on the GT4 model from Bavaria. The team from Oschersleben will also complete a double programme of ADAC GT Masters and ADAC GT4 Germany in 2022.
As in 2021, Porsche is the most numerous brand in the ADAC GT4 Germany field. The manufacturer from Swabia presented a new GT4 variant in the winter with the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. Allied-Racing and Overdrive Racing each offer three of the new cars.
W&S Motorsport and sister team AVIA W&S Motorsport each field a new Porsche. Nicolaj Möller Madsen, the champion of the 2020 season, will also take the wheel. The Black Falcon Team Textar also relies on a new Porsche. W&S Motorsport will also be fielding the predecessor model, the 718 Cayman GT4 CS MR, for Leo Pichler and Leon Wassertheurer.
A total of eight Aston Martin Vantage GT4s will provide British V8 power and a little James Bond flair in the ADAC GT4 Germany. Dörr Motorsport from Frankfurt is expanding its commitment to four cars. Ben Dörr and Phil Dörr, the two sons of team boss Rainer Dörr, will also be behind the wheel.
Prosport Racing is about to start its first full season in the ADAC GT4 Germany. The team relies on two Aston Martin cars. One of the cars will be shared by Hugo Sasse and Mike David Ortmann, who won three of six races in the second half of the 2021 season.
Debut of the Toyota GR Supra GT4
Their goal for 2022 is clearly the championship title. Racing One also returns to the ADAC GT4 Germany with two Aston Martin. The team from the Eifel region already competed in the series in 2019 and 2020. With the star in the radiator grille, six Mercedes-AMG GT4s will compete in the ADAC GT4 Germany.
All the vehicles will be fielded by new teams. The Drago Racing Team ZVO will start with two examples. Robert Haub and Gabriela Jilkova have already attracted attention with two top-3 results in 2021. The sister car is shared by Jan Philipp Springob and Nico Gruber, who is moving up from the ADAC TCR Germany.
Drago Racing Team ZVO will also complete a double entry with ADAC GT Masters and ADAC GT4 Germany. The CV Performance Group will also be fielding two Mercedes-AMGs. EastSide Motorsport and Schnitzelalm Racing will each field one car. Back in the ADAC GT4 Germany are Razoon – more than Racing from Austria and RTR Projects from the Czech Republic, both of whom will be fielding a KTM X-Bow GT4.
For the first time ever, a Toyota GR Supra GT4 will complete the entire ADAC GT4 Germany season. The Japanese car will be entered by Piro Sports – Burg Zelem Foundation and driven by Cedric Piro and Marcel Lenerz.
