ADAC GT Masters eSports: Christopher Högfeldt extends lead

Keithley and Högfeldt win race of the ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship powered by EnBW mobility+ in Watkins Glen – Högfeldt thus continues to lead the standings

Almost everything went as planned for Christopher Högfeldt (Virtualdrivers by TX3) in the second round of the ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship powered by EnBW mobility+. The Swede secured his third win of the season and a commanding second place on the virtual circuit of Watkins Glen. He thus continues to lead the overall standings of the SimRacing series, which is endowed with a prize money pot of 70,000 Euros.

In the 15-minute sprint race, Jack Keithley was the first to beat his rivals from pole position in his BMW M6 GT3. Högfeldt crossed the finish line just 0.304 seconds behind the Brit after a long chase. Third, 1.673 seconds behind Keithley, was Williams eSports SimRacer Jakub Brzezinski.

In qualifying for the 30-minute main race, Jack Keithley was again at the front, but another exciting duel was already brewing with Högfeldt in second place on the grid. At the start, Keithley was able to defend his lead, with Högfeldt and Bence Banki (Dörr Esports) following closely behind him.

Halfway through the race, Högfeldt was the first of the leading group to turn into the pit lane, followed just one lap later by Keithley. Things got exciting at the pit exit: After his stop, the Briton returned to the track right next to Högfeldt. Högfeldt, however, was able to prevail in the duel with his warmer tyres and take the lead.

Shortly before the end of the race, Keithley again tried to launch an attack on the Swede, but the latter defended the position hard in his BMW M6 GT3 to secure the win. Bence Banki, who pitted one lap later than the pair, was unable to benefit from the duel in front of him and crossed the finish line in third.

“Before the event I was extremely nervous, but everything went well. In the main race I assumed that Bence would stay out longer to take advantage of the duel between Jack and me. Now I’m looking forward to the Nürburgring,” said an overjoyed Christian Högfeldt after the event.

Reigning champion Moritz Löhner (Dörr Esports) also had to cope with a low points haul in the second round of the ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship after two mixed runs and will find it difficult to defend his title this season.

In the overall standings, Högfeldt leads with 154 points ahead of Keithley (114 pts). Bence Banki is third overall with 108 points ahead of Erhan Jajovski (97 points). Banki secured the Fastest Lap Award presented by motorsport.com with his fastest lap (1:43.4140 min.) in the main race and 250 Euros.

On 15 March, the ADAC GT Mastes eSports Championship powered by EnBW mobility+ will start into the half-time event on the virtual Nürburgring.
