Both AS Roma and Juventus Turin remain unbeaten after the third matchday: There was no winner in the direct duel after 90 minutes.
When AS Roma, who have won twice so far, visit Turin, all eyes were on Dybala, who moved to Roma in the summer after seven years with the Old Lady and is now returning to his old stomping ground for the first time.
After just one minute, however, all eyes were no longer on Rome’s new number 21, but on Vlahovic, the Juve striker, who took a free-kick. A promising position, about 25 metres from the goal – the Serb did not let himself be deprived of it: He lifted the ball over the wall and into the top right corner. The ball touched the crossbar and then went into the net (2nd half).
Locatelli’s goal does not count
After the perfect start, the Old Lady managed to control the game as the match progressed. Roma were hardly dangerous in front of Szczesny’s goal, while Juve had chances to make it 2-0.
First Cuadrado failed to score against Rui Patricio in the visitors’ goal (16th), a little later the Bianconeri were jubilant about Locatelli’s supposed goal (25th), but after reviewing the pictures the goal was taken back because of a previous handball by Vlahovic.
Abraham equalises for Roma
After the break, Juve initially remained the better team, with Cuadrado (55th) and Alex Sandro (62nd) creating goal threat. Then, however, the home side limited themselves to reacting – and Abraham first approached and then executed.
First, the striker of the guests missed with a shot from the turn (68th). Shortly afterwards, he went up for a header after Dybala had sharpened a corner kick at the second post and put it in front of the goal. Szczesny was powerless from close range and could not prevent the equaliser (69.).
The Turin team could not find a way out of their lethargy until the end. But because Rome could not develop any more danger, the score remained 1-1. Both teams thus remain without defeat in the still young season.
The next matchday in Serie A is already scheduled for this week: Juve will host La Spezia on Wednesday (20.45). The day before (20.45) Roma play their home match against AC Monza.
