Radu Dragusin was recently on the radar of numerous clubs, and now Tottenham Hotspur have announced that they have signed the Romanian. Only minor details still need to be clarified
For a long time, Radu Dragusin was only known to a few experts, as the defender “only” played for CFC Genoa in Italy. The vast majority became aware of the 21-year-old when a tug-of-war suddenly broke out between Tottenham Hotspur and FC Bayern.
However, Dragusin turned the Munich club down despite a financially more lucrative offer, as he was determined to prove himself in the Premier League – London was his first choice, and London is now his first choice.
As Spurs announced on Thursday evening, the central defender is moving to England and will receive a contract until June 30, 2030. He will be given the shirt number 6. No details were given about the transfer fee, but a sum of between 25 and 30 million euros was recently mentioned.
At the age of 16, he’s already a winger
At the age of 16, Dragusin left his native Romania to join Juventus Turin, where he gradually matured into a professional. At 18, he made his debut in Juve’s first eleven. Via Sampdoria and Salerno, he found his way to CFC Genoa, with whom he was promoted from Serie B. During this time, he also made the leap into the Romanian national team, for which he has now played 13 international matches.
In the current season, Dragusin has played every minute for Genoa and even scored two goals. The central defender has therefore played a key role in helping the promoted team finish in mid-table in Serie A.
Spence goes the opposite way
Genoa are losing an important pillar, but are receiving Djed Spence as compensation in return. The Spurs are sending the 23-year-old right-back to Italy on loan. According to Genoa, they also have an option to buy the Englishman
