What Eintracht Frankfurt announced on Monday evening is no surprise: the Hessians have provided Nnamdi Collins (20) with a new contract until June 30, 2030.
In Frankfurt, they are continuing to push ahead with long-term personnel planning. Following the early contract extensions in the fall of Noah Fenyö and Hugo Larsson until 2029 and Kaua Santos until 2030, Nnamdi Collins also signed a new contract until June 30, 2030 on Monday evening. The previous contract was valid until 2028.
“Nnamdi Collins is a very good example of how reliably we, as a club, are now able to offer young talent a clear development plan and put it into practice,” said sporting director Timmo Hardung, quoted as saying: ”To achieve this, Nnamdi has worked hard on himself since he’s been here and has shown the necessary patience and willingness. His achievements at this level are the result of daily training.”
Hardung does not see the end of his development by any means. “At the same time, Nnamdi and we know that there is further potential in him, which is why we are all the more pleased to continue on the path we have taken together for even longer.”
Collins joined Frankfurt from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023 and initially impressed in the U21s. During the second half of the season, the defender became an integral part of the professional squad and made his professional debut for Frankfurt against SV Werder Bremen (1-1) last April.
Opportunity in November sustainably used
Since the summer preparation 2024, the 20-year-old has been a permanent member of head coach Dino Toppmöller’s squad and, with three exceptions, has been a permanent member of the matchday squad. Overall, the right-back has appeared in eleven matches across all competitions this season, seven of which he started.
In November, Collins was thrown in at the deep end, so to speak, when Rasmus Kristensen was missing due to injury – and he did well. His new contract is not supposed to include a release clause. In November, Collins was also called up for the first time to the German U-21 national team, for which he immediately made two starting appearances.
