AVL Racetech shows the Norisring Balance of Performance: Ferrari has to load in the weight they got rid of at Imola, the opposite happens at Lamborghini
The DTM has announced the Balance of Performance (BoP) for the DTM weekend at the Norisring – and again made numerous changes compared to Imola, which is also due to the different track characteristics.
The cars from Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche are affected, the changes from AVL Racetech were only made to the weight.
The biggest change has to be made by the Ferrari team AF Corse, which has to load in 25 kilograms, while the Grasser team starts the weekend with 15 kilograms less at the Lamborghini.
Ferrari and Lamborghini: Back to Imola roots
For both teams, this is a reversal of the decisions made at Imola, where the Lamborghini was made heavier over the course of the weekend, while the Ferrari was made lighter. Now they are back in the range of the original values: For the Ferrari it was 1,325 kilograms in the first BoP, now it is 1,320. For the Lamborghini it was 1,325 kilograms, now it is 1,330.
Meanwhile, Audi and Porsche have made minor adjustments, as the respective teams are allowed to unload five kilograms each compared to Sunday in Imola. As a result, the Porsche 911 GT3 R will start with the absolute kerb weight.
Porsche at the performance limit
The car is thus at the performance limit, because with 48 millimetres, the restrictor has also already reached the limit. In comparison to Italy, no changes were made to the BMW and Mercedes-AMG.
It is noticeable that the weight of the different cars is somewhat more comparable again after the big differences in Imola.
The weight delta from the lightest car, the Porsche with 1.275 kilograms, and the heaviest car, the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, is 60 kilograms. In Imola, it was already 75 kilograms in the first BoP – and still 65 kilograms at the end.
