A racist video of Fortnite eSportsman ‘Sin’ is currently overshadowing the Fortnite Champion Series. His team partner ended the collaboration and is facing disqualification. Publisher Epic Games did not yet comment.
Together with his team partner ‘Acro’, ‘Sin’ is currently one of the best Fortnite players. The duo earned a spot in the Grand Final of the Fortnite Champion Series. But before this even starts, ‘Sin’ robbed himself and his colleague of the chance to win the title through a racism incident.
In a video, the Fortnite pro showed off a collection of real weapons, commenting, “If there’s ever a zombie apocalypse, or a N**** outbreak, we’ve got the armoury right here, N****”.
Astonishment instead of remorse
The eSports journalist Jake Lucky shared the footage on Twitter on Monday. Any speculation as to whether it was really the finalist filming and making the statements was ended by ‘Sin’ himself. In a response to the post, he clarified that he was directing the camera and chose those words. Furthermore, he expressed surprise “why everyone was so angry”.
He would own the weapons “in case” these scenarios – again he used the N-word – came to pass. To his perception, he had “never threatened anyone or said that” he would “do anything”. The eSportsman refrained from apologising or expressing remorse, meanwhile deleting his Twitter account.

‘Acro’ will “never have anything to do with him again “
Shortly after the publication, his team partner ‘Acro’ also spoke out. He distanced himself from what ‘Sin’ had said and “will never have anything to do with him again”. Furthermore, he expects to be disqualified: “I deserved it and it was taken away from me because my teammate did something reckless. I know the things he said are disgusting”.
Fortnite publisher Epic Games has yet to comment on the incident, so a verdict on the duo is still pending. The grand finale takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
