“Maker” and “King”: ‘BerkayLion’ triumphs in final FGS Qualifier

Berkay ‘BerkayLion’ Demirci won the final FGS Qualifier of the season on Tuesday, earning recognition from some of the big names on the scene.

A young player from Bremen continues to play his way to the forefront in FIFA 22: ‘BerkayLion’ was promoted to the Werder professional squad for the second round of the VBL Club Championship, and in the eChampions League he only narrowly missed out on making it to the grand final. But Demirci celebrated his highlight for the time being on Tuesday.

‘BerkayLion’ prevailed in the fourth and final FGS Qualifier of the season in the Eastern Europe zone. He beat Italy’s ‘tennents1996’ 3:2 in the final, which was preceded by wins over Razvan ‘RvPLegend10’ Puiu (4:3) and compatriot Lukas ‘Sakul’ Vonderheide (5:2).

German duo with seven Swiss wins

BerkayLion’ was already convincing in the Swiss system on Monday – he secured a walk-through at the beginning of the knockout phase with six wins. Only the Germans Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin from RB Leipzig and Furkan ‘FurkyPlayz’ Kayacik from Bayer 04 Leverkusen did better with seven wins.

However, the two dominators of the first day of the tournament quickly had to give up in the single elimination bracket: ‘Umut’ lost to Simone ‘KING_CARMELO58’ Carmelo with 2:8, ‘FurkyPlayz’ lost 0:4 to ‘KTzn_91’. Joe ‘JH7’ Hellmann from IQONIC, who had entered the semi-finals, was much more successful.

‘Umut’ & Co. congratulate effusively

But the acclaimed winner was ‘BerkayLion’, who was showered with congratulations on social media. Demirci was exuberantly celebrated as “doer”, “king”, “the best” or “GOAT” by ‘Umut’, Deniel ‘Denii_10’ Mutic, Marc ‘Marc_ldw23’ Landwehr and Aymane ‘Aymane’ Mokallik.

Kamal ‘FCSP_Kamal’ Kamboj and ‘JH7’ joined the praising chorus with crowns and lions, ‘BerkayLion’ had the German FIFA scene on his side. The 17-year-old thus also moves into the FGS play-offs, which pave the way to the 2022 FIFAe World Cup as the first highlight of the FIFAe Finals in July.

“The feeling right now is indescribable “

“The feeling right now is indescribable,” ‘BerkayLion’ is quoted as saying on Werder’s homepage. “I won my first big tournament at 17 in my first professional FIFA season, qualified for the play-offs and earned prize money.” Said prize money is US$10,000.

“I thought I had a good chance of winning the Qualifier beforehand. But I didn’t really expect it to go so well. I haven’t quite realised it all yet,” Demirci concludes.
