This is how the Champions League semi-finals continue

The first legs of the Champions League semi-finals will still be played in April. A city derby would also be possible then.

When UEFA drew the quarter-final pairings for this year’s Champions League season, they also drew the possible semi-final duels. It is therefore already clear what the possible path of the eight quarter-finalists to the final at the Stade de France in Paris will look like.

The winner of the quarter-final between Manchester City and Atletico Madrid (first leg: 1:0) will meet Chelsea FC or Real Madrid in the semi-finals – initially at home (first leg: 1:3). So it could come down to a city duel in the Spanish capital, a rematch of the 2015/16 semi-final between ManCity and Real (0:0/0:1), but theoretically there could also be an internal Premier League clash.

FC Bayern would face Liverpool FC or Benfica Lisbon (first leg: 3:1) in the semi-finals – initially away – should they turn around their quarter-final against FC Villarreal after the 0:1 first leg. The Munich side last played the Reds in the 2018/19 round of 16 and were eliminated (0-0/1-3). Benfica were only opponents in the group stage and twice pretty much without a chance (0:4/2:5).

The semi-finals will be played on 26/27 April (first legs) and one week later on 3-4 May (second legs). Kick-off will be at 9 p.m. as usual.
