Miami – Poland’s Iga Swiatek will move to the top of the tennis world rankings as tournament winner. The 20-year-old clearly beat former number one Naomi Osaka of Japan 6-4, 6-0 in the final of the Masters in Miami.
On Monday, Swiatek takes over the top spot in the world rankings for the first time following the retirement of Ashleigh Barty of Australia.
She is also the youngest player to win the WTA 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami in one year. For Osaka, it was the first final on the WTA Tour since her victory at the Australian Open more than a year ago.
